Keira Knightley is one of the promising film actresses that Hollywood is honing and nurturing. You would remember her as the beautiful Elizabeth Swan in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies alongside Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. She also starred in the movie Bend It Like Beckham. In 2005, she was nominated during the Academy Awards for her portrayal as Elizabeth Bennet in the movie Pride and Prejudice.

Keira Knightley is more than a Natalie Portman shadow, she has a unique talent of her own and a captivating personality set to capture the hearts of her Hollywood fans. She was born in Middlesex, England to Will Knightley and Sharman Macdonald. She belongs to the family of artists. Her mother was a Scottish actress and a playwright and her father has been acting in television and in theaters.

She led a simple life in Richmond and attended Teddington School and later on, Esher College. As a youngster, she struggled from dyslexia and wasn’t able to read normally. Nevertheless, she impressed her parents and teachers with her high grades in school. With good academic skills, she was give permission to pursue her acting career. She’s been acting in theaters for a time and wanted to venture in TV and film acting.

At the young age of seven, she has her television debut in 1993 in the TV show Ballykissangel. In 1999, she landed on a role as Sabe in the most popular science fiction film of all time, Star Wars. She was picked as one of the cast in Episode I The Phantom Menace largely because of her close physical similarity to Natalie Portman. A few years after, she landed on her first lead role in Robin Hood for Walt Disney TV productions. She then starred in The Hole and in Doctor Zhivago.

The movie hit an $18 million and $32 million mark when it was released in United Kingdom in 2002 and in the United States in 2003. Keira started getting offers from high-budgeted productions including the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. She was also a cast in the British comedy Love Actually. She was getting great reviews from her portrayal in King Arthur. In 2005, she starred in The Jacket, Domino and Pride and Prejudice. In 2006, she was cast again as Elizabeth Swan on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End in 2007.

Keira Knightley also graced magazines with her alluring smile. Hello! Magazine named her as the Most Promising Teen Star. FHM would not miss a beauty. Keira was given the 79th spot in 100 Sexiest Women in the World, UK Edition in 2004. A year later, she ranked several notches up at number 18 and in 2006, she grabbed the title Sexiest Woman in the World.

FHM US edition gave Keira the 54th spot in 2004, 11th in 2005 and the 5th spot in 2006. She also grabbed the number 9 spot in Maxim’s Hot 100. With such a great response from such an audience, she dared to post nude with Scarlett Johansson in Vanity Fair Magazine’s Hollywood issue back in 2006.
