Keira's Atonement  December 14, 2007

The verdict is in! After opening to great reviews from movie critics, Keira Knightley's Atonement heads the Golden Globe awards with SEVEN nominations. Yes, seven! The actress herself has been nominated in the best actress category. She is up against Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie for A Mighty Heart, Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Jodie Foster for The Brave One and the veteran Julie Christie for Away From Her. Keira Knightley's co-star James McAvoy also received a nomination for best actor.

The 22-year old actress was last seen taking a walk with boyfriend Rupert Friend in London, England. The two then went on to get much-needed cash from an ATM. Keira Knightley was also seen sporting some bangs (see photo below) at the premiere of Atonement at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last December 7 in Beverly Hills, California. She also wore a revealing Rodarte dress that made her look like a beautiful Greek goddess!

Keira shines in new Chanel ad  November 30, 2007

With the preponderance of Keira Knightley's films done in old centuries past, it's no wonder she was the one chosen to appear in a multimillion-dollar advertisement for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume, a cinema-style ode to the iconic fashion house's past and present. While Keira Knightley embodies a modern muse for the perfume, some of the Paris locations featured in the ads are full of history of designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. The actress seemed to be in awe of Chanel after the experience. "I think she had a tougher personality than mine," Keira Knightley said. The Chanel ad will be shown in television and cinema screens on December 2, and was directed by Joe Wright. He also directed Keira in the movie Atonement, which will also be released next month. Perfect timing huh? That's the reason why actors should have good director friends, hehe! Chanel's last "mini film" starred Nicole Kidman for the No.5 perfume.

"Atonement" opens on December 7th  November 17, 2007

Less than a month to go and Keira Knightley's highly anticipated new film, Atonement, will finally open this December 7. In the movie, Keira Knightley plays the privileged 23-year old Cecilia whose friendship with the housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy) leads her younger sister's imagination to run wild. Keira's performance in Atonement has been described as a coming of age role for her. Says the actress, "When Atonement came about I was very much looking for a piece, a character who was a woman - not that kind of girl on the brink of womanhood role. I wanted something that was very definitely grown-up. I think she [Cecilia] was a fantastic character and one that I totally fell in love with from the first time I read the script." Good for you Keira! I hope your love for the role will translate to a great performance onscreen. Who knows, you might even get another Academy Award nomination (and win!) for this one =)

"Atonement" for Keira Knightley  November 4, 2007

For some reason, movies set in the past (those gorgeous periods in the 19th century and older) love Keira Knightley. Unlike other young actresses these days who star in nonsensical films, her acting works are primarily of historic and literary significance. Well, except Pirates of the Caribbean and Domino, lol! She starred in the 2005 "Pride & Prejudice" and is currently filming "The Duchess", another periodic movie. And Keira Knightley just wrapped up "Atonement", a movie set in 1940 and is based on Ian McEwan's 2001 bestseller of the same title. The movie is a sweeping, tear-jerking love story starring Keira Knightley as the upper-class Cecilia Tallis and James McAvoy as Robbie, a housemaid's son who grew up on the Tallis estate. The first part of the movie, set on the Tallis estate in the hot summer of 1935, deliberately echoes films of the 1930s and '40s. For all Keira fanatics, this remarkable movie will be shown this December 7, 2007. Don't miss it!

Keira Knightley to model Sienna Miller’s line?  October 21, 2007

The gorgeous Sienna Miller, Jude Law’s controversial ex, launched her own clothing line last August 2007. And until now, she hasn’t found a model to be her line’s clotheshorse. However, last Thursday night, Sienna expressed her desire to get the Pirates Of The Caribbean actress Keira Knightley to model her Twenty8Twelve fashion label. She says, “Oh god Keira - I would love it. She's the face of Chanel so she's not likely to come and do my line.” But then the two are close friends so there might be a chance that Keira Knightley will say yes. The duo met and bonded on the set of their film The Edge of Love and they have remained close friends ever since. Says the hopeful Sienna, “But she's my mate so hopefully I'd get mates rates. I would definitely love Keira to do it. I love her face.” No word yet from Keira Knightley. The actress is busy filming her newest period film, The Duchess, in Great Britain.

Keira Knightley tops list of ‘Hollywood's Hottest Young Stars’  October 4, 2007

Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley has topped a list of ‘25 Under 25: Hollywood's Hottest Young Stars’, compiled by Moviefone.

The 22-year-old Brit actress was followed by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe at the second place.

Transformers actress Megan Fox and Michael Cera secured third and fourth places respectively.

Actress and Marilyn Manson’s current ladylove Evan Rachel Wood rounded off the top five, at the fifth spot.

Keira Knightley has self-esteem problems  September 27, 2007

Pirates of the Caribbean actress, Keira Knightley, is the cover girl of Allure’s October issue. She also gave a very revealing interview about herself in the said magazine, about media and fame, and how she deals with Hollywood’s pressure to stay thin. According to Keira Knightley, she doesn’t know how much she weighs. She says, “I haven't got a clue about how much I weigh. I do not own any scales. And I have noticed it creates an anger in people who are not skinny. People like to blame their insecurities on other people." And like normal people, Keira also has image problems. She reveals, "I'm not Wonder Woman. I have self-esteem problems. Everybody does.” But that doesn’t get into the way of her acting career. Keira Knightley strives to be strong, and also likes to play strong characters in film. She shares, "A lot of times in cinema today the women are overly sentimental, so I constantly try to do the opposite. I like strident women."
